2019 National Female Sale Results & Sale Chairman Report

March 9, 2019

The 2019 National Droughtmaster Female Sale was held in Gympie on Saturday the 9th March with a full stand of enthusiastic new and long-time stud breeders in attendance, some so new they are as yet to decide on a stud name.

Despite ongoing dry across much of the state bidding was sharp and consistent throughout most of the sale.  In a rough breakdown 45% were sold to studs in the South East Zone, 41% in the Southern Zone, 7% to the Central Zone, 8% to the Far Southern Zone and 10% to the Northern and Far Northern Zones.

Top Price Cow and Calf:  Oakmore Queenie, $6750, sold to Conclare Droughtmasters
Top Joined Female:  Nindethana Isabelle, $5000, sold to J Bartlett
Top Unjoined Female: Hamadra Innosent, $8000, sold to Wazcom Systems

152 lots were offered with 134 sold to result in an 89% clearance with an average of $2890 to a top of $8000.

The pre-sale inspection of the pens on Friday afternoon was very well attended as was the BBQ in the evening. Sponsors for this event were Norco Rural, Landmark and Nolan Meats Private Selection. Many commented that it was the best steak they had eaten in a while.  Many people stayed after the sale to socialize over drinks and pizza which was kindly sponsored by Budget Steel and Elders Livestock. On behalf of the Sale Committee and the Droughtmaster Society I would like to thank those sponsors and the other major sponsors of this year’s sale Gympie Isuzu Ute, Cooloola Custom Stockfeed, ZeeTags Australia who donate the sale tags, Vanderfield John Deere and Anipro Liquid Supplements. I commend the Agents: Elders, Sullivans Livestock, Landmark and the Online Livestream & Internet Bidding Elite Livestock as well as the Outside Agents GDL/SBB, my apologies if I have left anyone out. Thank you to the tireless efforts of the Droughtmaster Office Staff and the Yardmen and Office Administration on sale day.

A very big thank you my fellow members of the South East Zone who make up the sale committee:  Stan Tompkins, Ray Aitken, Grant Chandler and Sean Barrett.  We would welcome new members.

I would like to commend the vendors on the excellent presentation of all lots and thank the buyers and bidders from across the Nation on making the sale so successful. There was a great spirit of friendship throughout and I warmly welcome the new studs that attended and wish everyone great results with your purchases.

Yours Sincerely

Brian Heck
Committee Chairman
