Droughtmaster National Sale hits scorching $100,000

QUEENSLAND's benchmark Droughtmaster National Sale defied the odds delivering a massive $100,000 top price and blockbuster $9200 average.

 

Day one of the two day sale grossed $2.19 million and an 88 per cent clearance of the 269 bulls offered.

 

The $100,000 bell ringer was Billabong Hendrix 8546, a polled bull by Calaanah Brando, knocked down to in a joint buy to Kylie Graham and Mat Durkin, Mungalla, and John and Bec Atkinson, Cashmere, Murgon.

 

The exceptionally well grown 24 month old had a 144 square centimetre eye muscle area and a 39cm scrotal measurement. Hendrix will initially be sent to Rocky Repro Centre for collection.

 

Mungalla Droughtmasters also helped set the pace if the sale paying $20,000 for Lot 1, Karragarra Prospect (P), a 27 month old with a 140sq cm EMA and a 43cm scrotal.

Also in the money at $60,000 was the impressive Huntly Title (P) offered by Sam and Jane Barton, Mackay Cattle Company, Clermont, and bought by Ken and Kerry McKenzie, Yaralla, Blackwater.

 

Mac and Gayle Shann, Cantaur Park, Clermont, paid $50,000 for Yaralla Wallace (P), offered by Ken and Kerry McKenzie. The 23 month old had a 141sq cm EMA.

 

Wayne and Lana Barnes, Emerald, sold the 21 month old with a 140sq cm EMA, Waylanbar Gambler (P), for $34,000 to the Mylrea family, Rookwood, Gogango.

 

Jake and Julie Thompson, True Blue Droughtmasters, Childers, sold True Blue Beckett (P) for $34,000 to Rangeview Droughtmasters, Cooroy.

 

Hewitt Cattle Company paid $33,000 for Rondel Vintage Crop (P) from the Carrington family, Rondel, Winton. The very stylish 22 month old had a 141sq cm EMA.

 

Chris and Hailey Heness, Ridgie Didge, Goomeri, sold 24 month old Ridgie Didge efficient for $31,000 to Jason Childs, Glenlands, Bouldercombe.

Bundy Droughtmasters, Bucca, paid $30,000 for Garthowen Zollie 2 (P) offered by the Kinbacher family, Biggenden.

 

Volume buyer was Simmons Cattle Company, Avon Downs, Charters Towers, with 32 herd improvers.

 

The Department of Agriculture bought 13 for its Spyglass Beef Research Facility at Charters Towers.

 

Blue Valley Cattle Company, Collinsville, took home 12. Nardoo Pastoral Company, Cloncurry, bought 11.
