DNA & Genomic Testing

The Droughtmaster Society actively encourages all members to embrace genomic testing (DNA) to assist in the maintenance of the integrity of the herds and therefore the Droughtmaster breed in its entirety. Testing includes: HD50K Profile or Parentage Profile, Parent Verification, Horn Poll, Pompes (E7), and an optional extra for Pesti (BVDV).

There is more information on DNA testing specifically for Droughtmaster Members on the Member Portal.

It is important to note that all joining sires of animals born after 1 April 2022 that are to be calf recorded or registered need to be DNA profiled and Pompes tested and the case number and results recorded in the herdbook.
